Fishing Drones - Comparison Guide
With the introduction of the FD1+, our fishing drone range now includes three unique models designed to meet a variety of needs: the Fisherman Max (FD2), FD3, and FD1+. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just getting started with drone fishing, each model offers a different blend of features to suit your experience level and requirements. The Fisherman Max stands out as the largest and most powerful, while the FD3 and FD1+ offer more compact designs with impressive capabilities. Below, we'll explore the key differences between these models, from bait capacity to camera options, helping you choose the right drone for your fishing adventures.
The Fisherman Max features the largest aircraft in its class, yet its foldable arms allow it to fit into a compact carry case. Its body is made from marine-grade ABS, while the arms are constructed from carbon fiber for added strength.
The FD3 and FD1+ aircraft are smaller than the Max, featuring a unibody design made entirely from marine-grade ABS.
The Fisherman FD3 and FD1+ are designed to float on water without the need for external flotation devices. In contrast, the Fisherman Max, with its more compact design, requires four foam floats attached to its arms to achieve buoyancy on the water.

Installing batteries is straightforward for both drones. For the Fisherman FD3 and FD1+, the battery slides into a rear compartment and is secured by a hatch lid, which is locked with a twist latch and features a collar seal for water resistance. In the Fisherman Max, the battery snaps into an open compartment on top and is locked with four push-to-close latches, while a watertight seal surrounds the battery’s surface plate for added protection.
The FD2 and FD3 are equipped with a 4K camera featuring 1-axis stabilization and a 90° tiltable angle for video recording, making them ideal for bait accuracy, beach scanning, and fish spotting.
The FD1+ has the newer flight controller with a slightly quicker response level.
All drones feature our GPS 9.0 technology which enables the UAS's to acquire up to 30 satelites for extra stability (up from 20 satellites with GPS 8.0). We now expect this to happen within 40 seconds enabling a much quicker take off than before with a more accurate 1 metre positioning accuracy.
The FD2 & FD3 also have the automated flight facitlies via the FDFly APP

Conclusion
Best For Heavy Weights
The Fisherman FD2 stands apart in its class with exceptional weight-lifting capacity and energy efficiency. Designed for anglers transitioning from kayak fishing to drone use, its high power redundancy ensures greater peace of mind, even when handling bait drops of up to 2 kg.
Best For Ease Of Use
With its screw on propellers, slide in battery, calibration free design, and easy to use remote controller, the Fisherman FD1+ is the clear leader for fast setup and mistake free operation.
Best For Finding Fish
The cameras on the FD2 and FD3 can be tilted up or down using the remote controller, providing a wider field of view for the pilot. With clear aerial video feedback, land-based anglers can easily spot fish and place their baits in the perfect location.
Best For Budget
The Fisherman FD1+ offers a 2.2 kg bait capacity at the most affordable price, specifically designed for the sole purpose of delivering bait. It's an excellent choice for first-time pilots looking to practice drone fishing before moving on to more advanced models.
