FD2 FAQ

SwellPro FD2 Fisherman Max Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum bait payload of the Fisherman Max FD2?
The Fisherman Max FD2 can carry payloads weighing up to 3.2 kg (7 lbs), making it one of the highest-capacity fishing drones available. It's ideal for large baits, heavy sinkers and long-distance shark or game fishing rigs.
What is the difference between the Basic and Advanced packages?
The Basic Package is designed for bait delivery and includes the aircraft with the standard remote controller. The Advanced Package adds a stabilised 4K camera, real-time HD video transmission and a premium controller with an integrated 5-inch display, allowing you to scout sandbanks, reefs and fish activity while flying.
Does the FD2 have a camera?
The Basic package does not include a camera. The Advanced package features a stabilised 4K camera with live HD video transmission, allowing you to monitor your flight and position your bait with greater accuracy.
Can the FD2 fly automatically to a fishing location?
Yes. When connected to the SwellPro FDFly app, you can save fishing locations, create waypoints and use the Auto-Fish function to fly to a chosen location, release your bait and return automatically.
Is the FD2 waterproof?
Yes. The aircraft has an IP67 waterproof rating, allowing it to operate in rain and harsh marine environments. It is designed specifically for saltwater fishing and coastal conditions.
Can the Fisherman Max land on water?
Yes. When fitted with the optional floating landing gear, the FD2 can land on the water's surface. If the aircraft is overturned by waves, the integrated self-righting function can help return it to an upright position for take-off.
How long does the battery last?
The FD2 offers up to 28 minutes of flight time in ideal conditions without a payload. Actual flight time depends on payload weight, wind conditions and flight style, with most anglers achieving several full-distance bait drops from a single battery.
What happens if the drone loses signal?
The Fisherman Max includes an automatic Return-to-Home (RTH) feature. If communication is lost or the battery reaches a critical level, the aircraft will automatically return towards its recorded take-off point where conditions allow.
Do I need to calibrate the compass before every flight?
No. The FD2 has been designed to minimise the need for repeated compass calibration, allowing you to get airborne quickly even when launching from typical beach environments.
Do I need a licence to fly the FD2 in the UK?
Yes. As the Fisherman Max FD2 weighs over 250 g, you'll need to comply with UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations. This typically includes registering as a drone operator and obtaining the appropriate flyer credentials where required. Always fly within the current CAA regulations and maintain visual line of sight unless operating under an appropriate authorisation.
Can I buy spare batteries and replacement parts?
Yes. We stock a wide range of genuine SwellPro accessories and spare parts, including batteries, propellers, chargers, payload release systems, camera accessories and replacement components to keep your Fisherman Max ready for your next fishing trip.
